A spherical nexus of faintly glowing translucent blue pentacles linked by lines of binding runes spring into existence around your target. A target that fails its save is confined within the sphere, and cannot move or use melee attacks past the sphere. This effect extends across the corresponding space on the ethereal plane.
In addition, the target that fails the save is dimensionally anchored for the duration of the spell, as if affected by the spell Dimensional Anchor. Only the target of the spell is subjected to these effects. Other creatures are able to pass freely through the barrier.
Each round on its turn, the target may attempt a new saving throw to regain movement on the material plane. This is a full-round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. This does not end the dimensional anchor effect.
This spell does not affect spells are projectiles from passing through, including those cast or fired by the target of the spell. A successful targeted dispel magic destroys the pentacles, and sets the creature trapped within free.
